AQHA APHA DNA Schedule

In 2002 the registration committee approved the passing of parent verification to both parents starting January 1, 2004.  The DNA Schedule below will follow the same guidelines as the AQHA.

A genetic marker report must be on file with the AAHIA for any AQHA or APHA used for breeding  American Azteca horses.  This is required on all AQHA foaled on or after January 1,1989.

Parent Verification through DNA testing underscore the AAHIA commitment to ensuring the integrity of the breed and establishes positive identification.  DNA testing also will help build a better understanding of certain genetic disorders and may prevent them being passed onto future generations.
