AQHA/APHA Pedigree: Please be aware the we do not allow ANY horses who pedigree are over 25% TB. If you have unsure please fax or mail a copy of the registration papers to the office for verification.
DNA & Parent Verified: Starting January 1st, 2004, all horses being registered must have DNA analysis performed to confirm parentage against both parents. The exceptions is outlined in the AQHA & APHA DNA Schedule. DNA kits are to be ordered through the AAHIA with each accompanying registration application (Please do not send us the money for this kit before we received a filled out and completed registration application as we need the information from the application to complete the DNA forms). If the horse has already had a DNA analysis performed then a copy of the results is required. If the Andalusian parent is only blood typed you will need to order a Blood Type with DNA Analysis, or contact the Andalusian parents owner and ask them to contact the IALHA and have the blood on file at UC Davis converted into DNA. We can only verify parentage if all 3 horses (Sire, Dam and Foal) are DNA performed. If you have any questions on this contact the office.
Recognized Coat Colors, Patterns and Marking: Click here for more information.
Breeding Stock Listing Fee: Starting on Jan. 01, 2003 any American Azteca who's American Azteca Sire or dam is not registered with the AAHIA will be charged a Breeding listing fee ( See Fee Schedule). This rule does not pertain if the Sire or dam are purebred Andalusian's, AQHA or APHA.
Photographs: Starting January 1, 2004 we will no long be requiring 4 photographs with each application. This registration rule has been amended.
We will now be placing a scanned in copy of the Markings Drawing (Section 8 on the registration application) on the back of registration certificate. We will still offer you the option of a photograph on the front of the certificate if you like, but this will be at the discretion of the applicant. Remember if you submit photos you will still be required to fill out Section 8 Markings Drawing on the application. You must be very accurate when drawing the markings.
Also include any brands the horse has in their accurate location.
If you choose not to submit any photos and there is a question regarding the horses color or markings, photos will be required.
If you choose to submit photos here are some tips for photographing your horse:
Take a few minutes to clean and groom your horse. Prepare your horse and set up the photos.
Fill the frame with your horse, without leaving out any part of the horse, i.e. hooves, ears, etc... but please leave out the handler. Photos taken at a great distance from the horse are usually not acceptable. Remember the purpose of the photos is to show the MARKINGS that the horse has not just to show the horse.
For brightness and no shadows. Have the sun over your shoulder; also look at your background. Make sure you have good contrast (a dark horse should have a light background and a light colored horses should have a dark background.)
We will not accept pictures as described: A horse with a saddle or any other body coverings (i.e. leg wraps, blankets, hoods, etc.) Photo that are unclear. All markings, and/or spots must be shown. Other horses in the photo.
The horse must be the main object in the photo, filling up most of the area in the photograph. All pictures will be kept permanently on file at the registry office (No Polaroid's). Do not cut or trim photos, as this will be done in processing if needed.
Digital Photos:
We do accept digital photos. There must be a separate disk for each horses because it goes in the horses file.
Write the horses name on 3.5-inch floppy disk or CD. It must be high density and PC readable. The pictures must be saved as jpg or bmp.
Submitting Digital Photos sent on-line:
You may also send jpg photos over the Internet. We review a lot of photos. In order to avoid confusion, PLEASE follow these instructions. Please send ONE photo per e-mail. In the e-mail list the horses registered name, and the owners name. Each photo must also have the horses registered name as the name of the file (example: horsesname1.jpg, horsesname2.jpg, etc). An additional $10.00 per horse will be charged for this service.
HYPP Analysis: Any horse found to have the Bloodlines of Impressive in their heritage, must have their horse tested for HYPP. We will accept the results from another registry. Only horses with the result of N/N will be accepted for registry.
Pedigree: A clear, complete (front & back) copy of the Sire and Dams registration papers must also be sent with each registration application. If your horse is also registered with the IALHA, we do not accept the AQHA or APHA pedigree that is on its IALHA papers. However we do accept the Andalusian side of the Pedigree. For the AQHA or APHA pedigree, we need one of the following including registration numbers on all horses in the pedigree:
A) A copy of the original AQHA or APHA registration papers.
B) A copy of the pedigree prepared by the AQHA or APHA only.
C) The AAHIA will research the pedigree for the fee listed above.
A minimum of 4 generation is required.
